Antique 19th Century Lovely Quality Oil on Board Painting featuring mounted Musketeers (or Charles Ist era cavalry) on the outskirts of a forest about to enter as a troupe through pillared gates, no doubt leading to a Chateau, stately home (or similar).
realised after the renaissance style the painting is nicely detailed with a soft dark palette, capturing ones imagination.
The painting is mounted in a period frame manufactured in gilded gesso on wood, the frame is convex to the bezel and finished with a perpetual wheat sheaf gallery to the edges.
There are signs of wear present to the frame as can be seen from the photographs, the painting itself is in well preserved condition for age but does show stress crackling to the oil, likely a result of temperature variations over the years, the painting will also benefit from a gentle clean.
The painting appears to be an unsigned piece and measures approximately 20 cm x 18 cm, the frame in its entirety measures 32 cm x 27.5 cm x 6 cm in dimension. or 7.87 x 7.08 , 12.59 by 14.73 by 2.36 inches.
